The More You Know

In order to get the floors sanded, I cleaned all of the files out of my file cabinet in the office and put them in bankers boxes. As I'm putting them back in, I'm going through the papers to get rid of ones that I no longer need. There are a lot of papers that I really no longer need.

As I was going through the "Appliances" file (which appears to have receipts for furniture and guitars in it, as well as anything that might be categorized as an "appliance"), I found a folder from Lowe's from when we had the new water heater put in. That would be the water heater that has the annoying intermittent failure on the upper tank sensor that I have been fixing by the laying on of hands method.

Apparently, I bought an 11 year extended warranty.

Well, I guess I know who to call when it fails next...

Paper, Mr. Rico!

I have just emptied out two of the bankers boxes in my office. The large wastebasket that holds paper recycling is entirely full, because I really don't need Dodeka receipts and invoices that are over 10 years old. Or manuals for things we no longer own...

Write It Yourself

See, this is what happens when you clean out your desk. I'm going through the big file of filk, looking for the lyrics and chords for Chess so that I can record a backing track for Randy, and I found a printout of a song that I barely remember writing with Gretchen.

Is it in the filk directory on my machine? No, it is not. Ok, search.

There it is. Let me move it to its proper home.

Decadent Things

Yes, I'm still going through the filk file. And I found a napkin that I can only think was written in advance of Dorsai Thing 31, the Decadent Thing, which we held in Chicago some years back. I'm assuming that I wrote this -- at least, it's in my handwriting:
