The Wall Street Journal (sorry, no link) reports in today's edition that the Republican-leaning Progress for America Voter Fund has collected $35 million and "plans a barrage of commercials criticizing Democratic challenger John Kerry". Other Republican-leaning 527s appear to have been organizing since the Federal Election Commission decided in May not to attempt to limit the 527 activities during this election cycle.

The good news is that I won't see most of these (or the Democratic-leaning 527 ads) because I live in Illinois.

And the conversation reminded me that I should mention this:

The bathrooms are finally done. I moved myself in last night and actually used the master bath this morning. Unfortunately, the new shower head appears to have a water-saver embedded in it that has reduced the flow to a trickle, but that can be fixed one way or another.

There's a reason I live near a lake.

I think I've gotten a number of features close to working today. Unfortunately, I touched the "Var.h" header file, which means that the system is going to be compiling for an hour or so.

All things considered, I think I'll go get some dinner and go home now. :)

But, hey, before I headed out, I decided to look at the nice map of electoral vote projections here. (The site's run by a Democratic partisan, but he gives an honest count, even if he doesn't have a clue about the Illinois Senatorial race. :) )

As of today, he's got the count at Kerry 280, Bush 238, with two states tied -- Colorado and Missouri. Then he talks about how, even if those states went to Bush, Kerry would still win, which is correct.

On the other hand, he's already spoken of how he doesn't believe the most recent poll that shows Kerry ahead in Tennessee. (It'd surprise me too, but I was surprised when Gore lost Tennessee in 2000, so what do I know?) And if you added those eleven electoral votes to Bush's total and took them away from Kerry's, you'd arrive at:

Kerry 269, Bush 269.

There's what I want for Christmas! An election being decided by the House of Representatives...
