The Wall Street Journal (sorry, no link) reports in today's edition that the Republican-leaning Progress for America Voter Fund has collected $35 million and "plans a barrage of commercials criticizing Democratic challenger John Kerry". Other Republican-leaning 527s appear to have been organizing since the Federal Election Commission decided in May not to attempt to limit the 527 activities during this election cycle.

The good news is that I won't see most of these (or the Democratic-leaning 527 ads) because I live in Illinois.

Hey, how do you think I feel? Giving up cable was a brilliant move on my part. The only things I'm missing are The Daily Show (which I can download from a number of sources) and Cartoon Network's Adult Swim (which I can get on DVD).

I've only seen the ads I go look for on the web -- on the Bush/Cheney site, the Kerry/Edwards site, and MoveOn.org.

I have Tivo. What's an "ad"?

Nuts. I live in one of the battleground states (Ohio), so I'll be subject to those ads.

Maybe it's time to kill my television....with an axe or a sledgehammer. Or watch nothing but videos and DVDs.
