The kids had a wonderful time in New York, but are happy to be home and about to sleep in their own beds. Ruby the Dog and Sunshine the Cat seem happy to see them back as well. :)

It was time to catch up on laundry today. Four loads of mostly parental laundry later, we are caught up -- although three loads still need to be put away. But I managed to hump those three laundry baskets up to the second floor in a single trip, so I am suitably impressed.

The kids continue to have fun in New York. So far, they have seen "Six", the "Back to the Future" showing accompanied by a symphony orchestra, and have gone on a Hudson River dinner cruise tonight. I am told there are pictures. They'll be back late tomorrow, if all goes according to plan. They have a week off from school. I have plans for cleaning. :)

In other news, Gretchen introduced me to the "Cheese Tax" song today. Ouch! What a cute little earworm!

The kids continue their whirlwind tour of New York. This leaves things very, *very* quiet around here. Ruby the Dog looks insecure as she wonders where the kids have gone to. This did not stop her from her normal activities, including licking out the box from the Malnati's pizza that we ordered for dinner.

Tomorrow, I have many scheduled activities. This includes massive quantities of parental laundry. I'm counting at least four loads, which should keep me busy. I'm also planning some time in the studio to work on various projects, so we'll see how that goes.

Tripping

The kids were delivered to Terminal 1 at O'Hare this morning at about 3:50 AM, which is an absurd hour of the morning, but which was good, because it meant that they would be going out on the first United flight of the day to Newark.

If only their luggage had gone with them. I don't know how United managed to mess this up, but the luggage ended up going out on the next flight, which meant that they got to spend several fascinating hours in the baggage claim at Newark. I will, at some point, be interested in hearing the only slightly censored comments from the chaperones about this.

But they are there and I am presuming that fun is being had, because they have been mostly too busy to text us. Given the amount of sleep they got last night, I am assuming that they are *very* sound asleep now.

So we texted them "Good night!" :)

Tomorrow morning, the kids depart O'Hare for the Band/Choir trip to New York City. I expect that they will have lots of fun. :)

I have to take them to the airport at 3:30 AM. Neither child expects to sleep before then, saying "I will sleep on the plane." And possibly on every other transportation leg of the trip.

As soon as I get home, I am going back to bed. :)

We're currently parked in the lobby of the La Quinta waiting for the maids to make up the room on our last day here. Earlier, we grabbed lunch at Chuck's Hamburgers, having filled up pretty well on barbecue yesterday. Katie put away most of the applesauce included with the kids meal, along with some fraction of the hot dog and french fries.

Now, she's wandering the lobby, looking for people to flirt with. So far, this has involved two trips to the counter to retrieve her. Next time, it will be my turn again...

We're also wondering when she's going to throw her keys into the fountain in the middle of the lobby. The good news is that she's not yet capable of climbing in there herself. :)

Well, we didn't forget a lot of things on the way out of the house. (So far, a book and paper towels. We'll see what else materializes -- or fails to!)

We got out around 6 PM, much later than planned, but that's the way the day was. We met [livejournal.com profile] catalana for a late dinner in CU, then headed on down to Marion, Illinois, arriving a bit after 1 AM.

The leg spent the trip propped up on the center console, which worked pretty well. It's a bit red this morning, but not bad. I'm going to change the dressing shortly and see how it looks.

And I thought my doctor had given me more Cipro, but Walgreen's gave me something else that they're claiming is what he wrote on the prescription pad, so I'm making phone calls.
