Picnicon

We had our first Picnicon since 2019 today. It went well. We were joined by the Phandemonium Book Club and everyone seemed to have a good time and get enough to eat.

The new grill had a learning curve. We have a better plan for next year, assuming we do this again there.

Many thanks to Sam and Bonnie and Steven and Elaine for helping make this all work!

I may not have gotten everything done that I would have hoped to get done, but a lot of things are done.

Tomorrow is Picnicon. The weather forecast for tomorrow is absolutely gorgeous and I'm hoping that it holds. Sam and Bonnie went out and picked up a number of items from the store today. I picked up a few more items later. Tomorrow morning, we hit Sam's Club to grab meat and buns and then we will be on our way. I have collected all the names of everyone who has RSVP'd and have them on a little list which I really should remember to take with me so that Gretchen doesn't have to text me a photograph of it. :)

I also used up some rewards certificates at DXL, ordering some shirts on-line and running out to pick them up this afternoon. Earlier, Gretchen and I got lunch, picked up the Walmart order, and grabbed lunch for the kids to bring home.

And I sent out a first trial run for the computer-based first half of our APBA season and am now waiting for the updates from the rest of the league. The final run for the first half (the one that counts) will be next Saturday so that everyone can get rolling.

Tonight, Gretchen and I finished the ninth season of "Suits". We enjoyed it.

We have 10 episodes of "Pearson" that will also go away at the end of the month, but -- to be honest! -- my desire to watch Chicago politics is sharply limited by my proximity to the real thing. :)

Those of you who are keeping score will not be surprised that OptumRX has once again canceled my prescription order after sending me a text telling me that they were shipping it. That makes the score OptumRX 3, Actual Delivery of Prescription 0. This is clearly a system designed by Mordak, the Preventer of Information Services.

I have about a week to finish things up before I go on vacation. This is not *nearly* enough time.

Consuming *some* of the time before I go on vacation is Picnicon, as ISFiC's annual picnic returns after four years off for COVID. That will be Sunday at Maplewood Park in Deerfield and we'd like to know if you're coming, so drop by the ISFiC website and let us know.

I posted this earlier today with a link to the Picnicon page, but Facebook removed my post. That makes the score there Fraudulent Paid Ads an unimaginably large number (perhaps a Google?), My Attempt To Do Something For My Not-For-Profit Group 0.

Meanwhile, we continue burning through season nine of "Suits". Only four episodes remain...

We are now considering checking out "Fairly Legal" on Peacock, but probably not until we get back from vacation. :)

If you were planning on heading up to Deerfield tomorrow for Picnicon, the annual ISFiC picnic, please don't, because we would not want you to arrive there and be sad.

We have looked at the rainy forecast for tomorrow and have decided that we will not be trying to hold Picnicon in the rain. If the weather turns out clear and sunny (which seems unlikely), we'll be sad, but not as sad as we would be trying to move everything through the rain. :)

Thanks!

Picnicon went well today, despite the threatening weather. I went to help Sam and Bonnie with setup, but bugged out about three to go home so we could pack out the dining room ahead of the painters.

The dining room is much better now. :)
