We had our first Picnicon since 2019 today. It went well. We were joined by the Phandemonium Book Club and everyone seemed to have a good time and get enough to eat.

The new grill had a learning curve. We have a better plan for next year, assuming we do this again there.

Many thanks to Sam and Bonnie and Steven and Elaine for helping make this all work!

Those of you who are keeping score will not be surprised that OptumRX has once again canceled my prescription order after sending me a text telling me that they were shipping it. That makes the score OptumRX 3, Actual Delivery of Prescription 0. This is clearly a system designed by Mordak, the Preventer of Information Services.

I have about a week to finish things up before I go on vacation. This is not *nearly* enough time.

Consuming *some* of the time before I go on vacation is Picnicon, as ISFiC's annual picnic returns after four years off for COVID. That will be Sunday at Maplewood Park in Deerfield and we'd like to know if you're coming, so drop by the ISFiC website and let us know.

I posted this earlier today with a link to the Picnicon page, but Facebook removed my post. That makes the score there Fraudulent Paid Ads an unimaginably large number (perhaps a Google?), My Attempt To Do Something For My Not-For-Profit Group 0.

Meanwhile, we continue burning through season nine of "Suits". Only four episodes remain...

We are now considering checking out "Fairly Legal" on Peacock, but probably not until we get back from vacation. :)

Ken, the new ISFiC Treasurer, was good enough to come by on Sunday and I loaded multiple gigabytes of files onto a thumb drive for him (and the Secretary, and other people in the organization) to use. I also walked him through all of the assorted accounts and forms that will need to be filled out, along with the spreadsheets that I've lately used to pull together the taxes.

It was a lot of stuff. :)

Now, I need to arrange to get new signature cards at the bank so that he can write checks.

One step at a time...

I made a small amount of progress on the ISFiC taxes today.

I made a small amount of progress on the garage cleanup.

And then I settled down to read a week's worth of newspapers. I flipped on MLB Network as being relatively innocuous and got to watch the Twins beat the Cardinals in Game 7 of the 1987 World Series. I had forgotten exactly how many missed calls there were by the umpiring crew in that game, but they probably had no effect on the ultimate outcome.

Then I got to watch the Cardinals beat the Rangers in Game 7 of the 2011 World Series. :) All things considered, that may well have been the Cardinals most unlikely World Series winner.

I'm starting to work on the various taxes that I need to file for 2012. The first step in this is accumulating data.

I've been promised closing inventory figures for ISFiC Press soon. That will help there and also make it possible for me to send out royalty checks.

I've pulled copies of my personal credit card statements off the websites. Normally, this is relatively simple, but apparently my main Discover card was reissued twice last year due to security breaches, so the first month and a half of transactions weren't in the year-end summary and had to be pulled separately from the statements.

I've now finished the data entry for everything from the credit card statements. Next -- soon, but that's enough for now -- is to pull copies of all of the ISFiC Press and Dodeka bank statements and images of all the checks so that I can figure that out.

In the meantime, it turns out that ISFiC owes me about $2500 for the annual storage charges for the locker that bills to my credit card, while Dodeka owes me about $7000 for the charges that I rang up for them this year.

Normally, this would make me feel moderately flush.

However, the property tax bill arrived last week...

*sigh*

I managed to get the ISFiC sales taxes filed tonight, which means that they went out on time.

Unfortunately, I apparently managed to muck up a credit card payment, so although I've paid it off now, it will be a couple of months before I can use that card again without getting dinged for interest charges.
