In other medical news, I picked up my new CPAP today. The original CPAP still runs, but is over a decade old and apparently an antique by modern standards. The plastic covers over the buttons have started to come off as the plastic dies of old age.

On the other hand, it's still running when [livejournal.com profile] daisy_knotwise's much newer CPAP is periodically refusing to turn on. The other night, I removed the silicone rubber start button and used a hairpin to hit the two contacts inside the switch so that Gretchen could get a good night's sleep.

So there's something to be said for my antique machine -- which is going up on a shelf to wait for the day when another CPAP decides to malfunction.

You're a braver man than I am, Gunga Din (in re the hairpin).

Sharon and I both got CPAPs this year, mine just a few weeks ago. So far, they're working every night. (fingers crossed)

I'm still adjusting - sometimes I sleep through the night, but more often I get up at least once.
