Today's Progress
Aug. 8th, 2023 08:37 pmToday, progress was made on several fronts.
Gretchen and I met with our lawyer and signed the paperwork creating our trusts and getting us a better will. We still need to change beneficiaries for a lot of accounts, but now things can move on this.
The folks handling my dad's trust dropped me an email asking if I had his death certificate. I may. Somewhere. Not anywhere that I can *find* at the moment, it having been 23 years or so. Since we were already into successor trustees when the trust was transferred from its original home to this one, I'm thinking they shouldn't really be looking for the death certificate. At this point, they are going ahead with my dad's Social Security number and his date of death, which they think will do the job. If not, well, there are a lot of papers scattered around to look through.
I *did* find a lot of interesting things in the files, though. I found a lot of documentation for our house, which I thought had vanished. Nope, just in a different folder. And unlike a lot of things, this *will* actually come in handy some day.
In other news, I am looking for a new dual monitor KVM for my desk. Given the ports that are available on the two machines and my monitors, this is becoming a more expensive challenge than I had hoped. But I'll keep looking. And I'll also double check the ports on the video card in my desktop machine, which I am less certain of than the ones on the docking port for the work computer.
