Jim Geraghty of the National Review has a daily newsletter of stories of political interest. One of the stories today contained the line (I'm not sure if it was his or from a link):

"Kim Jong Il? No, Kim Jong Dead."

Sadly, this event probably won't improve the lives of the people of North Korea, but one can always hope.

A colleague quipped that his tombstone should follow Spike Milligan's inspiration and say "I told you I was Il!"

Will his successor Un-do any of his damage? (So far it seems unlikely, but as you say...)

My thought was, "Most likely, 'The Kim is dead, long live the Kim!'"

At this point, the quote has probably spread over most of the English-speaking world.

Bwah! I'm this far back in LJ -- but I'm pretty sure I'd not seen that before. My keyboard thanks me for not having swigged coke just before reading that.
