*urp* 36 hours of seasickness accompanied by force 7 gale winds.

I'm somewhat better now, but could be better yet. In the meantime, I'm considering leaving Gretchen (who has been a bit seasick, but not as bad as I am) to finish the cruise and flying back from Honolulu.

Which would make work happy, at least.

(And substantially improve my digestion.)

You poor thing! Have you tried any motion sickness medication? I feel for you. We took a cruise w/the kids last January and it was pretty choppy for a few days. Although I never lost my lunch, it certainly affected my appetite for it. Bleh.

Have you tried taking antihystamines?

I've been seasick before. I know how dreadful I felt, and you are in rougher seas than I ever was. I know that the cruise people have dealt with this before, and I hope they have some help to offer you.

Ugh. Unless the weather is due to get worse rather than better, you'll probably keep improving with more time. (As I understand it, almost everyone gets used to the normal level of motion eventually, but "eventually" can feel like forever.) I wouldn't tell you to go home unless either you're completely miserable all the time, not able to get any enjoyment at all, or the doctor wants you to.

If you decide to punt, I recommend taking Gretchen with you rather than leaving her to be nauseous alone.

Here's to hoping the seasickness subsides in both of you.

try ginger. Ginger snaps, ginger ale. It's supposed to help.

I will now stop envying you your cruise.

The motion sickness armbands worked pretty well for me. They have a little plastic piece that triggers a pressure point on your wrist that helps nausea. Maybe they would help control it if not eliminate it.

Ouch. Makes me feel a bit better about going to Honduras instead.

The ginger suggestion is a good one. A lot of divers swear by the stuff. See if Jerry brought along any of the candied stuff he's so fond of. Ask one of the waiters if he can get you some from the kitchen if not.

The ship's surgeon should be able to give you a scopolamine patch, they really work.

Screw work; try to find a way to enjoy your vacation.

Say hello to the rest of the crew for me.
