Man v. Food

On Wednesday night, the folks on the Travel Channel run a bunch of episodes (and one new one, in season) of Man v. Food, a show that daisy_knotwise and I enjoy quite a lot. The host, Adam Richman, travels to different cities and goes to three different restaurants to look at their local cuisine. The last of these always features some sort of eating challenge which Adam takes on -- hence, the Man v. Food name of the show.

In a special alert to my friends in Iowa, next week Adam goes to Des Moines.

He used to have a challenge- if you could eat a 10 oz sandwhich with his latest hot sauce on it, he'd cater you a dinner for 50, or some such number. There was an antry fee to do it, and the entry fees went to the food shelf. I still have a bottle of his last hottest sauce- "Code Blue."

So what is an "eating challenge"?

They were filming in Ann Arbor a few weeks ago. I believe the episode is scheduled to air on October 20th. (For those who know Ann Arbor, I know they filmed a segment at Krazy Jim's, and the challenge was a huge plate of nachos at Tios. I don't know if he won.)

Can't watch that show anymore. Adam is very engaging and fun, and the people he meets are interesting and cool, but every time I watch, I end up gaining a few extra pounds that week. ;)
