Movie Trailers That Mislead You

Courtesy of Mark Evanier, this link to a trailer for a movie that may seem familiar to you. But in this alternate universe, the studio apparently decided the movie was going to bomb and the only hope of getting the audience to show up -- for the opening weekend, at least -- was to make them think it was a very different movie than the one that they'd actually filmed.

Not into horror but I remember gettign sucked into The Shining and really liking it but gee, it sure wasn't that movie!
I'm sooooo confused.

I am both amazed at what a wonderful job the author did with this, and appalled to think that it's even possible. I'll be suspicious of any trailer after this.

Not that I wasn't suspicious before, of course.
