Singing Along With Katie and Julie

Both Katie and Julie are happily singing songs. They're The Alphabet Song and Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star, but they're recognizable songs. And mostly recognizable lyrics and tunes. :)

But aren't those both the same tune, just with different words?

Certainly they're very similar tunes. I'd have to do a note-for-note comparison to see if they're actually identical.

They scanned the same for me, and also the same as a children's song that I learned in high school French class:

Quand trois poulets vont aux champs,
La premiere marche devant.
La second suit la premiere,
La troisieme marche dernière,
Quand trois poulets vont aux champs,
La premiere marche devant.

Translation:
When three chickens go to the meadow,
The first one walks in front.
The second one marches behind the first one,
The third one marches last.
When three chickens go to the meadow,
The first one walks in front.

To make the French scan to the tune, you have to invoke the peculiarity of sung-French in that all the letters that have become silent letters over the centuries are now pronounced, making the words several syllables longer, in some cases.
