I'm Staining Away
Aug. 23rd, 2009 09:45 pmActually, I'm pretty much done staining now, having stained the nine shelves and two uprights for the new paperback bookcase this afternoon. I still need to stain the plywood for the back, but that can wait for a bit.
samwinolj has promised to help me put the bookcase together; I merely need to find the aforementioned drill bit somewhere in my basement. It's a funky bit that will produce the proper holes so that the screw heads end up level with the wood. And it cost enough that finding it will be much better than buying another one. :)
The entertaining part of doing the staining was trying to explain to Katie that she couldn't help, because I really didn't want her covered with Golden Oak Minwax stain. And that was what was most likely to happen if she did help. *sigh*
Having spent all this time in the back yard, we grilled steaks tonight. I've become very fond of the $3.50 / pound top sirloin at Sam's Club. I don't think I can buy chuck roast for that price at Jewel.
Yum!
