It was a nice night, so [livejournal.com profile] daisy_knotwise and I piled Katie and Julie into the van and headed out Rand Road to the Max and Erma's that's just a bit north of Lake-Cook Road. And a good time was had by all.

Hopefully you got decent service - we've pretty much given up on going there because of too many rounds of glacially-slow service. Pity, as the food is/was still good, and the shopping center is close to home. Some of the staff of Barnes & Noble know us on sight...

The Stony River steakhouse is very good (but expensive), and a Mexican place around the back by the theater that's pretty good, too.

At Deer Park, it's La Hacienda, which is at the south corner of the complex, Field Parkway and Deer Park Boulevard - http://fernandezfoods.com/lahacienda/

Although usually when we want Mexican we go to Toreo Restaurant in Palatine. Hmm. No website, and google maps has it in completely the wrong place. It's on the south side of NW Highway in Palatine, a shopping center between Quentin and Smith St., IIRC. 383 W. NW Highway.

Cheaper, little hole-in-the-wall but still pretty darn good is Mexico Uno, also in Palatine, 15 N. Brockway, which is about a half-block north of Palatine Rd.

I think it's a toss-up between Toreo and Mexico Uno with us any more.
