I hadn't seen any of Conan O'Brien's Tonight Show until just now. It was on in the background while I was following the Cards / Dodgers game on ESPN GameCast.

And now I think I can skip it from now on. :)

Haven't seen him since he took over from Leno. I didn't really appreciate him before, are you saying that he hasn't improved with the addition of (possibly) better writers.

He hasn't. I recorded his first show, just to get a taste, and from the little I've watched of his other show, there's not much difference.

New, better writers? I don't know -- he probably brought most of his old staff with him.

His whole physical humor/mime things leaves me stone cold...

I tried Conan in his first week and a couple times since then. Had not cared for him on his old show, don't care much for him on this one. Despite the promos in the news beforehand, I only once have hit record to get the star interview.

Letterman starts here about 30 seconds after Conan. I've sampled Letterman more this week. Did someone speed him up? It seems his monolouge has changed. Longer, with less physical waste of time between jokes. Instead of Paul Schaeffer playing him over to the desk, he now plays him into the first break. The first night this week I watched he went right to the first routine at the desk instead of wasting time there. Last night he was really into himself and his high temperature.

I've been learning to get to some DVDs to watch at that time of night. But I want to watch those, instead of having Letterman on while I am still on the computer.

Well, Letterman is getting old. But I DVR him every night, then watch them when I get to them. I usually just watch the opening stuff and the Top 10. There's seldom any guests on that I like.

He also has a bit called "Small Town News" which is a rip off of Jay's "Headlines". And he also does "Late Night Fun Facts" which are a hoot. Oh, and he still does "Stupid Pet Tricks" and "Stupid People Tricks" once in awhile. I miss the CBS Mailbag on Fridays, tho.

I'm sorry you felt the need to experience him before coming to that conclusion.

I'm not sure I've ever been able to watch more than about a minute of one him.

We've watched O'Brien regularly in the past and enjoyed it, which is something I can say of Carson but not Leno.
