Actually, more like Wii.

I went out and bought the video game console today. It's the first video game console I've owned since the dedicated one that played Breakout and a couple of other games mumble years ago. I got it, because I hoped to interest Katie in things like the Disney version of Dance Dance Revolution in the hope of getting her off the couch.

So far, she's been perfectly content to watch Daddy play. Except when she wants to grab the remote control in the middle of a game. Hmm.

We'll work on this.

The Wii - a fascinating platform, you buy it to get your 3 year old active and my 83 year old mother just bought one a few months back after falling in love with the bowling game at our house. Take that PlayStation and Xbox!

She might be a little young for the Wii and disned DDR. We bought the cousin's the disney ddr a couple of years ago and Mere tried it out. Even at (then 7), she couldn't work it that well.

Perhaps trying some of the video consoles for toddlers might work better for Katie.

I think that Vtech has something, too.

I'd love to hear more about the Wii, if you've been using it for yourself. Do you like it? Is it intuitive to use? Are the activities fun? I've been debating getting one for John and me to get things like "Wii Fit". We've never bought a video system of that type before. I don't tend to game and John does all his gaming on-line. The Wii is a bit pricy for us to justify right now, but we're hoping the price might drop a bit eventually.

Wii Fit has helped me lose eight pounds since New Year's. It varies between being annoying and motivating, but the activities provide good feedback if you are doing them right (yoga and strength training) and the balance games are quite fun.

My kids love the Wii Sports: bowling, baseball swing practice, tennis. Even my five year old plays.

A certain short person of my acquaintance loves We Ski. It can be played with either the balance board or just with the remote and nunchuk.

Just an FYI - we just got our Wii about a week ago. We've found out that Family Video and our local library have Wii games for rent/checkout. That way you can try them out before you buy. We rented Backyard Baseball and the kids tell us that it is really bad. They prefer the version that came with the game.

They like the Wii Active fitness program that was bought for the adults (but can't get access to the game because the kids are playing). ;) We also have Dog Island (mixed reviews), Disney Sing it (Huge Hit for the tweener girls) and Cooking Mama (Huge Hit - they like to do so well with the game that they make Mama mad)
