Capricon Tonight

The first Capricon meeting of the year is tonight, so I'm heading home to grab dinner with daisy_knotwise, jeff_duntemann, Katie, and Julie beforehand.

In work-related news, after beating my head against the wall for a while, I think I've finally figured out the correct way to handle the initial updating of the views in our application, which is made more complex by the fact that the views belong to a tab control that can't be initialized until the document is read into memory. We've kludged this in various ways in the past, but I think I may have found the right bit of magic to make it work in a more sane fashion.

We'll see tomorrow when I actually test it. :)

We're painting the kitchen area and one of the results was my desktop going down hard. Coming back up, I couldn't get the router to work. Part of the problem is my computer has a temperature sensitive switch and it has to cool off before it can be turned back on. Final fix was to

turn everything off
leave it off overnight (probably an hour or so would work)
power the cable modem all the way up
power the wireless router all the way up
power up the desktop
