I Can See Clearly Now

Having acquired and replaced the pigtail cable for my video card, the red channel on my main monitor works again. My eyes are happy to see that.

Molex: It puts the red in.

I think it's a standard term, but maybe not. Two leads come out of a single connector, looking like a young girl's pigtails (at least in theory).

A pigtail is usually just a short piece coming out to hook other stuff to. http://www.grote.com/tech/dictionary/ for example. You've got a Y, or a splitter, or something.

That makes a lot of sense. Molex puts the red in, and Visine gets the red out. Put them together and you get Moline, which, having been there, I can tell you is about as colorless as it gets. (Other than John Deere green.)
