The Big Girl Bed

By popular demand (namely hers), Katie is sleeping tonight in the big girl bed in her room. She asked to have the small lamp left on low, but seems to have gotten up and turned it off herself. It's a touch lamp, so it's easy to do.

We'll see how things go by morning. :)

She should like it. We moved Amber to a big girl's bed lots earlier. Not because she was ready but because she learned to climb out of her crib -- headfirst. I briefly thought of tying a top on it then just gave up and let her have the one with the shortest fall to the floor. She seems to have lived through it. :-)

Yes, well, the climbing out of the crib thing has precipitated this particular move at this time. We tried to move her to the big girl bed a couple of months ago, but she was having none of it then.

The semi-bunk beds are showing up within the month, though, so it was going to be time to fish or cut bait soon. Apparently, Katie decided to go fish.

Sharing the big girl bed with Mommy at GAFilk might have been the catalyst.

If the child makes the choice, it's generally successful. It's when Parents Decide that there are Issues. :-)

Thinking about it, it's when there's a Difference of Opinion that difficulties arise. And girls are rumored to be more stubborn than boys in this regard. Good luck with that...

I'd be curious to hear how Katie goes with the night light issue over time. I always had a night light, as my rampaging imagination populated the darkness with the goldurndest cast of characters...
