Apparently, the ASUS Crosshair board that I have in the studio computer occasionally loses its mind for no apparent reason. It and I have been having a long discussion this afternoon. I keep finding ways to almost get it to work.

Unfortunately, almost isn't really helpful.

Well, you can always throw money (and a new board) at the problem. I ran into the same thing making jewelry. Supposedly, the Navoajo (and probably Zuni) used a wooden block to make their beads. After about a week I gave up and bought a steel die which works just fine. I have wanted one for about 30 years so I don't feel too bad. You've always wanted a new studio computer anyway, right? :-)

Oh, I'm strongly considering a new motherboard. The only problem is that I need it to support:

SATA RAID 1
eSata
USB 2.0
Firewire
Two PCI slots
PCI-Express
PS/2 Keyboard and mouse
Socket AM2 (to reuse the current processor)

The mouse port is likely to be the big sticking point, but since the old computer that drives the mixer must have a PS/2 mouse and I want to use a KVM switch, it's a serious limiting factor.
