Because man is a sucker for his little girl. And remembers reading The Enormous Egg.

And because if Katie sees this, she will really, really fall in love with it.

This is such a bad idea.

Really.

If you think that's bad, meet Pleo (http://www.pleoworld.com/getpleo). Otoh, Pleo is programmable...

I don't recall, but according to their website, more than at Amazon. We might (if I lose) go to Costco on Friday and I can check the price for you.

It must be the retailer in me that sees something like that and thinks ... size, quality, utility - yep, $200 would be fine.

I know we spent $150 on a huge stuffed dragon when Marty was young, and got many years of fun out of it. It's still here, but he's not so interested any more.

We still have the stuffed Dragon we bought when you closed Stars....
and years later, he still gets played with.

There has got to be someone in the fannish community that can make you a reasonable facsimile, much cheaper than what they're charging.

I haven't seen that one, but I've seen the Golden Retriever. It's creepy, and it scared small children at the Walmart.

How old is Katie, 2 or so? [livejournal.com profile] dunkelpig exclaims that Our Boy at 2 would have been terrified of that thing! (When it starts talking and moving its head.)

The talking audio-animatronic gargoyle was wicked cool. And I loved that Katie showed it to me as soon as I walked in the door.

I suppose it could always turn into another verse.
("But, dear, where else can you get triceratops for $5.65 a pound?")
