Well, not that much free time. But a six-string banjo is strung and tuned like a guitar, so I already know what to do with the left hand. The right hand work is a little bit different, but I'm discovering that a slightly more aggressive finger-picking technique seems to produce the correct tone. And there are a lot of songs that I strum using what I think of as a crossed thumb strum that seem suited to the banjo tone as well. (Basically, I hit the strings at a different angle as I go down, alternating.)
The big reason for getting it is that the banjo adds another tone to the palette in the studio. I need only find the right songs to use it on. :)
