Yesterday, the temperature headed up into the 80s with humidity high enough that I flipped on the air conditioning for the first time this year so the house would be vaguely comfortable.

Today, the announcers on the radio are talking about a wind chill reading of 38 degrees. Ack! And all I brought to work was my windbreaker which I discovered wasn't breaking nearly enough wind on my way into the office.

I walked to lunch anyway.

It's supposed to be summer.

More or less.

Whole lotta sympathy, m'friend. We've got a frickin' frost advisory for tonight. I'm just glad I haven't put away the down comforter, y'know?

Yeah, so much for the plants I stuck in the ground a week ago. I think we must be on the leading edge in the fight against global warming. :-)

My husband reports he saw *snowflakes* this morning taking the kids to the school bus. Right there with all y'all. Brrr.

I'm still going to leave my bedroom window open just a bit ...

OK, I may be a bit of a mutant ...

Apparently I'm the only one who's lovin' this. We're having an actual *spring* for the first time in a decade or more! My tulips lasted about three weeks instead of three days, and (despite being sorely tempted by the 80s yesterday) I've gone over a month and a half without using either the heat or the AC.

Wait a minute! You mean that jackets can break wind?????

Holy moley! Stop worrying about what cow gas contributes to global warming and start worrying about L.L. Bean! Or maybe there's another reason why they call its competitor Land's End?

;)

Well, there's obviously a reason why it's called Bean...

I thought it wasn't supposed to be summer for another four weeks.

I can go for Memorial Day as the start of summer. So, that means we've got 3 more days...

I always heard that "Last Frost" was May 30, and "Last Freeze" was May 15. This was in SE MI (Z 5), where there's a frost warning for May 27. It's not that unusual -- there were years when we lost the middle of the strawberries, as the second flush of blossoms was adversely affected by the Last Frost.

Same weather here; I'm just hoping that there's not repeat of last year's late freeze that took out the apple crop locally. And I'm just as happy that I haven't gotten stuff actually planted in the garden, yet (that'll get done in the next few days, once it warms up a bit).

You can blame Husband.

See, we went to the new house to decide on paint colors for the basement walls. The geothermal system has been turned on, so the house is kept a comfortable temperature regardless of what it is outside. So when we stepped over the threshold, the relief from coming out of the heat was worthy of comment. Which I did.

So, being the Love he is, he put in the window air conditioners in Havoc House. Both of them. Usually, the first one doesn't go up until sometime in July, when he gets tired of my comments-turned-gripes. The second one doesn't go up until August, when the gripes turn to downright bitching.

Obviously, the double whammy of 2 timely-mounted air conditioners was more than the incipient summer could handle.

Still, so far it looks better than last year, when 3 separate outbreaks of and retreats from spring ruined every crop in Michigan.

[quickly knocks on wood desk.]

No, blame my daughter, Briana. She complained about the heat and the temp dropped to 34 actual, not wind chill.
