Pediatricianated

Juliana needed to make a first visit to the pediatrician today and Katie was close enough to her 18 month checkup that the office scheduled a double appointment. I went along with daisy_knotwise to the office as I figured that wrangling two kids right then was probably more than she needed.

The doctor pronounced both kids suitably healthy and recommended Triple Paste for Julie's diaper rash. We'll see how it works.

In the meantime, I've concluded that milk-based formula was not the cause of Julie's urpies. I was putting together the order for Marcon tonight in between feeding her and we both have a complete change of clothes, having discarded the ones that were covered with soy-based formula.

Now to order the CDs.

My Ellie was (and still is) extremely healthy. But she was just a very sicky baby in a way that Jared really wasn't. She would look around, smile (or whinge, the two were interchangeable) and throw up on a level last seen in the "pea-soup" scene from "The Exorcist". It was really very impressive. And she was *perpetually* "possetting" (small regurgitations) to the point where I gave up putting her in pastel clothes. Bright colours and patterns hide the stains better :-)

Could it be soy making Julie all urpie? My niece discovered, after finding out that her infant son had a severe soy allergy, that all but the most expensive prescription milk-based formulas have some soy in them.

It's possible that it's the iron, too, which is pretty hard on a digestive system. Good luck with that one. We had to special order formula for Kate without iron.
