And today Katie discovered the children's shelf on the bookcase in the hallway outside her room. Shortly thereafter, all of the books on the shelf were piled on her bed.

They're back in the bookcase now.

For now.

One of Joseph's first full sentences was "Wow! Look at all the BOOKS!" I'll be waiting for her to demonstrate that she's taught herself to read the contents of the treasure trove....:)

Back when there was only one Borders, they had to turn off the lights to get my daughters out. (Libby and Amber.) They were around 5 at the time.

We never warned her about books.
How they slip into your life,
nibbling at your time.
We never told her how they would grow and twine around her.

Instead we read to her
and, all innocent, she learned to read herself.
Now it's too late, she cannot quit.
She loves to read.
