Feb. 26th, 2008 10:27 pmAnd today Katie discovered the children's shelf on the bookcase in the hallway outside her room. Shortly thereafter, all of the books on the shelf were piled on her bed.

Date: 2008-02-27 01:26 pm (UTC)We never warned her about books.
How they slip into your life,
nibbling at your time.
We never told her how they would grow and twine around her.
Instead we read to her
and, all innocent, she learned to read herself.
Now it's too late, she cannot quit.
She loves to read.
