Transcribing My Muse

So I was down at FenCon a few weeks ago and was sitting in the room with guitar in hand noodling about when a chorus came to me. So I grabbed a piece of paper and wrote it down. And I was having the damnedest time making sense of what it was about.

The next day, I pulled out the piece of paper and looked at it again.

That's buttercup, you idiot, not bottlecap!

Oh. Ok, that's better.

I'd think so.

I still don't know what this song is about.

Well, if you don't know, I'm certainly not going to tell you.

Sometime soon, I'm going to pull out my guitar and look at this again. But there are days when I just feel like a transcriptionist working from a bad audio tape.

I, on the other hand, wrote a song last night (the first one in ages!) which was vaguely inspired by watching too many anime music videos. My main reaction to it was "If this is what I write after watching mostly comedic videos, I better stay away from the serious ones." Well, that and "I'm soon going to need to come with a disclaimer that says 'No, I don't really lure men away to their death. Honest.'" *grin*
