The Sinking Ship
Sep. 28th, 2007 10:42 amAs I pulled onto the Tri-State this morning, the DJ on WDRV announced that after the commercials, they'd be playing Gordon Lightfoot's "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald". As I pulled into the parking lot at work, the song ended.
In fairness, there were a lot of commercials. :)
But it's good to be able to get to and from work that quickly.

Date: 2007-09-28 07:04 pm (UTC)I got onto the Tri-State from the former Northwest Tollway, so I was able to make some pretty good southbound headway before the song actually started playing. And it's not very far from the highway to the office on this end. I think we'd come down to the next-to-last verse when I pulled off the highway.

Date: 2007-10-02 02:44 pm (UTC)When I was in Thunderbay in the late '70's the local DJ (there was only one) played it every morning, Monday to Friday, after the 7:30 news. If I wasn't out of bed by the time the cook came on deck, I knew I didn't have a hope in hell of making my 8 o'clock class.
