When Hyperion bought Alcar, our original hire dates at Alcar became our Hyperion service dates. Thus, on June 23rd, I passed my 25th anniversary at this job.

As of the end of today, I'll be moved over to Oracle with a new hire date of 7/1/07. It's the same job and the same seniority that I had for benefit calculations.

But somehow, it's not the same.

Look at it this way.... maybe Oracle has good swag for passing those early milestone anniversaries?

Yeah

This makes a fair amount of sense to me. I do know that when Group Health (my original employer) merged with another company and became HealthPartners, it felt a little creepy, even though I couldn't quite say why. And now, as it's been a week since my employment was terminated, I feel *really* strange looking into the mirror and seeing somebody who is neither an employee of Group Health nor of HealthPartners; it's like looking into the same mirror and seeing that my eyes had turned bright orange. At least, Bill, you can look forward to many more years of employment. And I'm scrambling. (But you and I both have numerous LJ friends who have looked for work and gotten results; my situation won't last indefinitely.)

Of course you realize we'll be expecting you to say things oracular and arcane henceforth . . . ;-)
