Walking Man

Ok, limping man on crutches would be more accurate, but I have been cleared for "limited weight bearing", which is a darned fine thing. The staples are out of my knee, so I should have much less annoyance in that area. The doc asked why I was spending all my time in bed, to which I replied, "Because I'm spending six hours a day on the CPM machine." He told me I don't need it any more. This is also a fine thing, especially because it means I don't need to haul it to FilkOntario with me. And the doc shortened the enormous brace on the bottom end, which also improves the situation there.

I am now happily ensconced in my recliner chair in the family room and will shortly be getting back to work. And tomorrow, I'm going to go into work for at least half a day to talk to the new boss, who will be in visiting.

I'm so glad you're even "kind of" ambulatory! Does this mean there's any chance at all you can change your mind about Minicon and show up anyway? I'd be happy to see both of you. (Note: Because my own health concerns are pretty severe, I may have seemed unsympathetic to your situation. I am actually very sympathetic. I keep going back to when I was 15 years and 10 months old, at "high school summer camp for the arts" at Washington State University and broke a bone in my foot. WSU is located on an extremely steep hill, and walking on crutches was a screaming pain. But I recovered, and it sounds as though you're on track for doing likewise; keep up the good work.)

Given that we're going to FilkOntario and Dorsai Thing on the two weekends before Minicon, I think I'm going to collapse in a puddle at home Easter weekend. :) (Although it would be great fun to sit in a circle with you again soon!)
