Either I'm doing something wrong or the calibration on the replacement CPM machine is going wonky. Right now, the top and bottom ends of the electronic scale are reading about 10 degrees less than the analog scale on the machine. My leg can't be that heavy! I've got a call in to the fellow we got it from and we'll see what he says.

In the meantime, I've been spending time looking for new songs to sing to Katie. In the last couple of days, I've tried Daisy Jane, Sister Golden Hair, Eli's Coming (not too popular), Old Fashioned Love Song (better!), Marrakesh Express, Teach Your Children, and Bad, Bad Leroy Brown, along with some others that have just slipped my mind right now.

I'll just keep working on this.

Apropos of nothing in particular . . . but every time you post something about CPM, my brain locks up on the assumption you mean the ancient operating system.

Kathy Mar's "Drink up the River" and the drinking song from "The Student Prince". (We had some food difficulties at first.) The Student Prince was mostly "Drink, drink, la la la......" for all the words.

Of course, I also sang

Good luck on the knew and the CPM troubles!

"Lullabies" my kids loved: The Circle Game (Joanie Mitchell) and The Pony Man (Gord Lightfoot). Of course, they were a bit older then :-).

I heartily recommend purchasing ANYTHING by Sharon, Lois and Bram, because you get a curious mix of old and new songs in arrangements that sound like music not kids' music. Also Raffi, and Ken Whitely.

I also recommend talking to Di Huey, whose son listens to music all day (or did before he went to school). Tavo is one of the two nicest kids on the planet (after my own, of course), the other being Corwin, Talis's son.

Tragically, my guys got whatever I was singing with a group at the time.

Jared was "Temper of Revenge" and Ellie got Fleetwood Mac's "Silver Springs" as their own "special songs".

Kind of inappropriate, and may have moulded them both :-D

Bizarrely, Ellie is now convinced that our normal lullaby, "Come By the Hills" should be renamed "Come By the Hills of Legoland". I fear it may be wishful thinking...

If she likes Bad Bad Leroy Brown she might like Mac the Knife, and I think it would suit your voice.

My kids each had a song I wrote for them, plus things like the lullaby from Fraggle Rock; Uh Oh, Oh, No, Don't Let The Rain Come Down; I Know Where I'm Going; Somewhere Over the Rainbow; and One Tin Soldier.

Two America songs, even? I'm sometimes amazed at the parallels between us demonstrated in your LJ (I remember noticing that our TV watch list was also very similar).

Meg Davis' "If I Had my Life to Live Over" was more or less THE standard song for me to sing to our boys late at night. But there were tons of others, including nearly anything I could think of that could be done not-too-loudly.
