This Was Not How I Planned To Spend My Evening

daisy_knotwise and I had just gotten home from a meeting with our financial advisor. I'd been a bit later arriving, as I stopped to buy gas on the way home. Since we planned to go out to dinner momentarily, I parked my car in the middle of the driveway and got out, carrying the mass of binders and stuff that we'd gotten at the meeting. I hit the button to lock the car and it beeped twice, telling me that something was open. I went back and checked the driver's door. It was fine. Ok, maybe the trunk had popped somehow.

And as I stepped toward the trunk, my right foot slipped on the ice, leaving my left foot planted as I pivoted around my left knee on the way to the ground. This hurt a lot.

One 911 call later, the ambulance arrived and took me to the hospital. I apparently have a torn ACL and will likely need surgery to put it back together.

This is not likely to improve the chances of having catalana's and my CDs out for FilkOntario.

And naturally, my out-of-town boss, who I had hoped to have a face-to-face conversation with this week, will be arriving on Wednesday for a three-day visit.

I am not in a particularly good mood.

Owie! These days I live in fear of something like this, even when it's not icy. Hope all is repaired quickly and as painlessly as possible.
