Brain Damaged General Manager
Oct. 16th, 2006 10:24 amThe Cubs are apparently poised to hire Lou Piniella as their next manager. Personally, I think that hiring a manager who would rather be managing the New York Yankees is a big mistake, especially since that job will likely be vacant after 2007. We've already seen Piniella pitch a fit to get out of his contract with Tampa Bay; I'll be not at all surprised to see the same thing happen here in a year when Piniella gets tired of losing again.

Well, not really. That was the last non-divisional World Series, and the last one with real "characters" on the teams, IMHO. But then, back in '68 I was just starting college and still young and impressionable.
