Our HP Color LaserJet 4550 is a really nice printer, but it's had a problem for a while where it starts spewing out blank sheets of paper instead of a print job. It turns out that this is a known defect in the transfer kit which you can't find on HP's website, but can find at the Fix Your Own Printer Website. So I've ordered a remanufactured transfer kit from them that I'm hoping will make the problem go away. I'd be less annoyed if HP documented this on their website, since that was the first place that I looked and I spent about three hours digging out the information. I should have gone to Google first.

Unfortunately, this is making printing difficult right now. And there are things I need to print.

[livejournal.com profile] technogeek1 and I have this discussion frequently. When he has a problem with something, he checks the manufacturer's website. I check Google. Inevitably, I find the answer/solution more quickly. Google will find it anywhere - even on the manufacturer's site. Ask him to tell you the story of his motherboard and the SATA drive ;-)

Bill - My day job has one of those printers and we keep 3 key maintence components in stock.

I will email you (or post the key part numbers) on Monday for you after I walk into the store room and look them up.

Been there, done that. Same hassle. But the new transfer belt did fix it for us.
