Looking over the completed listings on eBay, I discover that the amount I paid for my Roland GR-33 via Buy It Now wasn't such a bad price after all. I don't think any of the ones that had all the parts that I wanted went for significantly less and some went for a good bit more.

Meanwhile, in other equipment news, I hereby announce that my original Guild case for my Guild 12-string -- which I've been using for the Guild six-string guitar for air travel for several years now, because the airlines couldn't do any more damage to it than had already been done -- has now officially expired of old age and general abuse. Terry at the Guitar Works looked at the plywood and said, "Well, I could glue that piece of plywood back together, but this spot here on the back at the top of the neck that you've just showed me can't be glued at all, because there's nothing to glue it to."

So my Guild six-string is now traveling in a brand-new really heavy plywood Martin case.

I think it's confused by all this.

I haven't had to fly, but still my case has the same problems as your old one.

Duct tape is my friend ... for now

I sprang for an Anvil-style flightcase for Magic Ben some years back when we were invited out West to do the GOH thing at Okon and LepreCon (you know -- all that metal binding, folding-flap latches, metal corner pieces, weighs a ton, crushes anything in its path). We called it The Monolith. Mostly it's sat in the basement since then, dreaming of clans of adoring Stanley Kubrick apes; I've waxed paranoid about flying Magic Ben anywhere, even with all that protection, because if somebody did manage to damage that guitar I would have to do really awful things to that person. (Have thought about using The Monolith for some informal weight training, though.) Perhaps your faithful old case can retire to house duty.
