The first set of blinds, having been trimmed, now fit in the window and were installed on the second try, as they had to come down to have the strings untangled. The second set of blinds were just enough shorter than the window that they fit (barely!), but had to come down and be put up again as one of the strings was jammed in the mechanism. This set got to taste blood ([livejournal.com profile] daisy_knotwise's from a string cut), but are now docile and hanging where they belong.

All of the rooms where folks will be staying in August now have light blocking shades or blinds. Yay!

And you've been in this house how long?

(Just kidding ... most of our windows have blinds now ... the kids' rooms got painted while they were at camp in June.)

Actually, window treatments were one of my first priorities when we moved in. Rooms with people sleeping in them have had light-blocking shades or drapes all along. But non-sleeping rooms have had lighter treatments. Since the reallocation of rooms, we had to add room-darkening shades to two rooms. One had been the library and one had originally been my mother's room. She was a morning person and rather disliked blinds and shades. I had fairly heavy drapes in there for her, but Roper felt something more light-blocking was needed now.
