I had thought that I would post our current OptumRX saga (which *may* be resolved) today. But instead, I have finished a song -- more or less, as the tune is still settling down. And I would *much* rather post that.

So here is the cheery little ditty that I started last night and finished up today. There is *nothing* like having a con coming up to engage the songwriting gears...

Anyway, I hope you like it!

The Stars Do Not Care

(Chorus)
I’m looking up at the stars tonight
And the stars are looking down on me,
But the stars do not care
That I am standing there,
‘Cause the stars do not care about me.

The stars are bright
On this cold and moonless night.
The stars have promises to keep.
But the stars tell us lies
About distant foreign skies
And the stars won’t allow me to sleep.

The stars are cold
As they shine into your soul.
Every pinpoint leaves a mark.
The galaxy turns
And new fires start to burn
And new stars will rise in the dark.

(Chorus)

The stars are so far
And light years are the bar
That keep us locked up in the mud.
We still long to climb,
Wrapped up in human time
And the melody flows through our blood.

The stars will live,
But none will ever give
The light from the sun that we see.
Echoes of that light
Shine down on us at night.
Are there eyes out there looking for me?

(Chorus)

(Bridge)
The stars do not call.
They do not care at all.
The stars orbit deaf, dumb, and blind.
But somewhere there may be,
Past places I can see,
Someone staring outward with a mind.

(Chorus twice)
‘Cause the stars do not care about me.
‘Cause the stars do not care about me.
