K had rehearsal late tonight and wanted dinner from Portillo's. Given the state of the oven and the amount of chaos circling around, this sounded like a good idea. We proceeded to the new Portillo's Pickup location at Lee and Higgins to discover that the "Portillo's Speed Team" was not so much tonight. In fact, they took an amazingly long time to produce an order consisting of two beef, one combo, three large fries, and three slices of cake that were being divided among the four members of the family. (I was the one with no cake, for the record.) I don't know what was taking so long, but the fries did not benefit at all from being pulled out from under the heat lamp and held to wait for the interminable amount of time that it took to get the sandwiches together.
When I got home, Gretchen and I finished watching the long-awaited season premiere of "Will Trent", which is off to a fine start for the season. Then we set out to get the kitchen under control before the new range arrives some time between 7 and 11 AM tomorrow. This was a bit of a challenge, but the dishwasher is packed and running, the cookie sheets have been removed from the old stove, and the pathway has been cleared for the installation of the new stove.
Next up: the season premiere of "The Rookie". :)
