Home on the (New) Range
Feb. 19th, 2024 06:15 pmIt turned out that I had today off from work. Surprise!
This was convenient, because I needed to take some time off to go to the appliance store. I bundled Gretchen into the car and we went down to Mission BBQ for lunch and then over to Grand Appliance, where we had bought our new refrigerator a few years ago. The fellow there recommended a pair of Frigidaire ranges and we bought the one that was in better supply. Both ranges were on substantial sale, both ranges were stainless steel (because white ranges with features were either unavailable or really expensive), and one had a back panel and one didn't.
We ended up with the one that didn't, as it was only $100 more and had a lot of features that I liked a lot. The main annoyance will be that it has a menu system for getting to most of the oven controls, but -- on the other hand -- it's conveniently located on the front of the oven so that the shorter members of the family (read: everyone but me) doesn't have to reach across cooking food on the top surface to get at them.
Best of all, it will be delivered and installed on Wednesday, so we should be back in full cooking business by then.
In the meantime, it is now time to go cook yesterday's meatloaf as patties in a skillet...
