Postmortem

Windycon 49 is over -- save for the wrap-up meeting, which I'm sure will happen before too long. And, all things considered, it went pretty well.
Attendance was up this year, which was good, and we made our room block, which is also good. We know there are some problems with the hotel and have been promised that a large chunk of the deferred maintenance that folks had to deal with this year will stop being deferred and will turn into *actual* maintenance. We're looking forward to that.
Our guests were enthusiastic and delightful and fun to talk to. That is *always* a good thing.
There are things that we'll need to fix on our end, but it was our first year in the new hotel, and it takes some time to discover exactly how you fit into the space. Overall though, I'm pretty pleased with the way the space allocation worked out. (Got to figure out how to get bigger aisles in the Dealers' Room Annex, because that was being more than a bit cramped. But you find some things out by experiencing them.)
And I had fun! And it looked like the folks there who *aren't* members of the concom were having fun. (So did the rest of the concom, I think. There will always be moments that *aren't* fun, but it looked like it was being a good experience all around.)
And having fun is what it's about.
