Today's Good News
Jun. 7th, 2006 09:07 pmThere's a generous woman up in Wisconsin who's being a surrogate mother for us. According to her doctor, she's due around November 21st, which means that life could get really exciting about then. (Ok, life's really exciting now, as well as a bit scary and nerve racking. But I gather that most pregnancies are like that.)
Of course, there are still many things that might go wrong -- which would explain the scary part. But we're keeping our fingers crossed that things continue to go well.
So far, so good.

Date: 2006-06-08 02:34 am (UTC)Congrats and all that stuff! :-)
And fingers will definitely be crossed here... I'll add y'all to my "healthy happy baby" ritual that I already do nightly for two of my best friends (one expecting his first grandbaby and the other expecting her first child).
Capricon's gonna be full of wee ones!

Date: 2006-06-08 02:58 am (UTC)Even scarier, for me at least, was actually after David was born, when he and Daniel and I were alone together for the first time.
It's amazing how much you can cope with regarding a new infant :-)
Congratulations!

Date: 2006-06-08 03:13 am (UTC)I always thought you'd be a fantastic Dad and I know G will be an awesome Mom! Wow. So...
YAY! I will cross fingers, pray, etc.
And I shall also use it as a blatant excuse to hit SOME midwest con in the next year or two so I can meet the little one when she/he arrives!! :-)
Parenting is far and away the hardest job I've ever done. Still, it's also the most transformative and beautiful at times. And, we're all a lot stronger than we think we are, but most importantly there's a big old network of us - none of us has to be alone. (I still say I'm going to organize a fannish parental relaxacon! Though arguably "Thing" is!) ;-)
Lots of love with you guys!
YAY!

Date: 2006-06-08 06:02 am (UTC)Just curious: Is it okay for me to ask whose egg and sperm are in the surrogate mother?
Do you know the baby's gender yet? (Do you want to know?)
