I Spy With My Little Eye

So I headed out to the new optometrist today and I think we have overshot the mark a bit.
We backed off the prescription on my left eye just a little bit. We backed off the prescription on my right eye a *lot*, to a point that I need to characterize as "way too much". I had to wait for the dilation to clear to be certain, but when it did, my right eye wouldn't focus properly on anything that was more than about 14 inches away. Since the computer monitors are farther away than that, it was a sad experience.
They gave me an extra left lens with a tiny bit *less* correction which I will try out in a couple of days, but I think I am going to switch back to the old prescription in the right eye tomorrow, because that eye is really useless with the current correction.
At the moment, I'm wearing my old glasses and my eyes feel *much* more relaxed. :)
Meanwhile, everything else in my eyes looks good, so it's just a matter of fixing up the prescription so that it works for me. I think that they simply misunderstood the "one eye far, one eye near" fix up that we've been doing. I don't do any work to speak of at a foot or less, so the near eye can focus farther out and be just fine.
We'll see how it goes.
