I mentioned it to Steve at FKO and will now share with you. While "bard" is not a verb (normally) musically, it IS in gastronomy (and armour, but that's not the point). It involves inserting strips of fat under or on the skin/surface of a cut of meat that might otherwise be dry during long slow cooking.
So, every time I see "Drive By Barding" I get a rather different image...
