That Was a Surprise

I was surprised to read on my newsfeed this afternoon that the Cardinals had fired manager Mike Shildt.

My guess is that it had something to do with management wanting him to rely more on analytics and less on gut feel, but who knows? "Philosophical differences", the Cardinals said.

This has caused numerous columnists who think they're clever to start talking about Plato's cave...

It sort of fits. We don't know what actually went on and can only see the "shadow" of the internal conflicts, so to speak.

Writing those words, I realize that "World Inside the Crystal" by mdlbear has an allusion to Plato's cave, which somehow I'd never noticed before.
