Illinois Senatorial Race Update

Jack Ryan, candidate for the Republican senatorial nomination from Illinois, is being pressed to open the sealed proceedings of his divorce from Jeri Ryan, better known as "Seven of Nine" on Star Trek: Voyager. This follows the recent release of the sealed proceedings from the divorce of Democratic senatorial hopeful, Blair Hull, from his second marriage to his now ex-wife, Brenda Sexton, better known as "Best Two Out of Three".

(Yes, I suppose it's tasteless. But I've been doing my taxes and I need sleep.)

I was under the impression that Jack Ryan's proceedings weren't generally sealed with the exception of those pertaining to his children. In any event, I see no reason for people to be looking into his divorce, unlike with Blair Hull whose divorce may actually carry strong indications about who he is and how he responds (for those who don't know, his now two-times ex-wife claims physical and mental abuse). In any event, the portion of Hull's proceedings dealing which children should also remain under seal.

At this point, I don't see any way for Ryan to lose the Republican nomination (and he's much better in so many ways than his nearest Republican rival, Jim Oberweis) even for being a staunch Bush rubber stamper). At the moment, I'm planning on voting for Barack Obama in the Democratic primary, which is much more wide open than the Republican race.
