Gretchen's eye procedure went by the book today. She reports that her eye doesn't feel as bad as it did when she had pinkeye and wonders why she has a prescription for Vicodin.

And she thanks you for the good wishes, which impressed her greatly this morning.

Because of COVID restrictions, I wasn't allowed to go up to the office with her. When I found out that was happening, I called my long-time optometrist's new office which was a few blocks from the eye surgery clinic and managed to score an appointment for this afternoon. My eyes have been thoroughly checked out now (and have passed all the appropriate tests). And my optometrist and I had a lovely chat and caught up on things, which was fun too.

There is entirely too little opportunity to talk to people in the last 12 months...

Glad to hear it went well.

As to the Vicodin, it's probably a personal response thing, and giving the 'script to everyone cuts down on people calling for a 'script later. Some people are bothered more by eye pain than others, and some people experience more pain after surgery than others - both the kids got Vicodin 'scripts after their wisdom tooth extractions, but neither needed it.
