Task Completed
Dec. 24th, 2019 06:39 pmI have finally completed the delayed annoying task that needed to be done. I wait for what I consider the inevitable blowback from having done so, but -- who knows! -- I could be pleasantly surprised.
The power switch on the computer that Julie is using has failed again. This is a miserable design that we bodged back together with hot glue a while back. I have been informed that it was all my fault for daring to mess with the computer, which was having an Internet problem and which desperately needed to be rebooted so that the Windows 10 update would install.
There is no real way to replace the power switch, because it is such an odd part. The best solution would be to transfer the computer into a new case that was not designed by an idiot, but Julie does not really want the case to be changed.
In the meantime, we have removed the front panel of the computer so that the switch can be accessed. This allows the computer to be booted up.
A solution to *this* problem will eventually exist.
Oh, did I mention that the fancy power strip that detects that something plugged into it has been turned on and then activates all of the other outlets decided to fail at this moment too?
*sheesh*
