Sympathy. Our last of four property tax payments hits my bank account on Friday, and then we're off the hook for about six months before a new cycle begins. Because of the way Lyon County, Nevada does its property taxes, instead of being able to pay on a regular quarterly schedule, we get a bill that can be paid in four installments between October and March.
I'm sure you're financially organized and together enough that this didn't come as a surprise and while it was a lot of money, you were able to pay it.
It wasn't a surprise (although I spaced that it was March 1st earlier in the day and had to hustle to write the check), but it has beaten the heck out of the free cash reserves. It's paid, which is the good thing.
Which reminds me I need to check that I paid my property tax. It's not very much at all per month, but I can't pay it per month (and why not; wouldn't it be better for it to be coming in in regular doses all year but never mind) but I have to pay at two different places because there is city tax and county tax, and I'm not *positive* I've paid them both...
