Delta Is Ready

Tropical Storm Delta is ready whether we are or not. However, it looks very unlikely to hit land.

My Greek alphabetology is lousy, but I think Epsilon would be next. Of course, that would just be a tiny, little storm...

Alpha (A), Beta (B), Gamma (Γ), Delta (Δ), Epsilon (E), Zeta (Z) Eta (H), Theta (Θ), Iota (I), Kappa (K), Lambda (Λ), Mu (M), Nu (N), Xi (Ξ), Omicron (O), Pi (Π), Rho (P), Sigma (Σ), Tau (T), Upsilon (;Upsilon), Phi (Φ), Chi (X), Psi (Ψ), Omega (Ω).

I used to be able to recite these while holding a burning match. But that was in college.

My proofreader hasn't had his morning coffee yet.

It should have been Upsilon (Υ). This letter evolved into the Roman letter Y. In French, it's called "egrek"; in Spanish, it's "igriega".

Epsilon would indeed be next but it would have to form between now and Midnight Eastern Next wednesday, since that's when the naming of storms officially ends. Of course with this season the way it's been they might continue to name storms into December if necessary.

I think the hurricane season officially "ends" on the 30th, but we've had December tropical storms and hurricanes before and have named them.

My guess is they would move over to the Hebrew Alphabet since we'd obviously be talking about a hurricane season of Biblical Proportions.

I loke that.. "Watch out... Hurricane Hey is set to make landfall in Palm Beach county at Sunset" Hell any of those storms hitting South Florida would be ironic beyond belief. :)
