Everyone needs to stop reading facebook because it's malevolent and everyone who participates is helping it take over the world. But I assume you're referring to something that applies only to you, and you're trolling the world saying "I know something that I'm going to make sound interesting but I'm not going to tell you what it is."
For me it's more so in Quora, qs about atheism. Often really just "questions" about atheism. As in "I can't believe it's a real question, it must be a Troll Call."
What I remember thinking you said when I wrote my comment was not quite what you actually said, and I was a bit snarkier than I should have been. Sorry about that.
Personally, I assume it's something like "There is something that's really irritating me on facebook (like a meme, a share, a topic, whatever) that I know is really popular with my friends, so if I actually talk about it here, I will probably cause people to talk about the subject and defend it etc. Which would entirely defeat the point, since it is irritating me."
I stopped reading Facebook a while back through a combination of accumulated annoyance at the mechanics of the site (top stories vs most recent, pushing ancient content to the top because somebody liked it etc) and the irritation of people sharing their political views, not for debate (which I could handle better, though I prefer not to argue politics with friends on the grounds I'd like to keep them!) but in the obvious assumption that all right-thinking people would be agreeing with their views.
But mostly because Facebook is perpetually and recurringly ANNOYING! To me, anyway! :)
I can't say I've felt like I've missed much in the last couple months of mostly not reading FB. Individually, I like my friends, not to mention loved ones; but I loathe the FB gestalt they become.
I agree Facebook has a bunch of problems, ranging from an annoying interface and the soundbite communication it promotes to the pile-on effect that can result in comments or feed.
*hugs*
I very much doubt anyone would want to kill you (except, I suppose, if you need to stop reading facebook because you need more time for your grand plan to destroy the universe or something.)

But then, I try to be charitable to my friends.
